<p>Braces aren’t just for teenagers or kids. In fact, adult orthodontic treatment is rapidly growing in popularity as more people embrace the idea that it’s never too late to improve their smile. Getting braces as an adult has become a stunning game-changer for many thanks to advancements in orthodontics and the focus on aesthetics in today’s world.</p>

<p>At Orthoworx in Sydney, we’ve seen firsthand how adult braces can transform not only smiles but also confidence levels and oral health. So whether you’re in your 20s, 30s, or beyond, the journey to a healthier, more aligned smile is now more accessible and tailored to adult lifestyles than ever before.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Why are More Adults Getting Braces?</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/pexels-shvets-production-9774682.jpg"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="640" height="427" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/pexels-shvets-production-9774682.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3087" style="object-fit:cover;width:560px;height:373px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/pexels-shvets-production-9774682.jpg 640w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/pexels-shvets-production-9774682-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:14px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>For many adults, straightening their teeth wasn’t an option earlier in life. Perhaps it wasn’t feasible because of financial constraints, lack of access, or misconceptions about age limitations.</p>

<p>But thankfully, today’s flexible and discreet orthodontic solutions and advances in technology have made straightening teeth more accessible, appealing, and easier to commit to. Here’s why braces as an adult are trending:</p>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Improved Self-Confidence</strong></h3>

<p>Crooked or crowded teeth can make people feel self-conscious about their smiles, especially in social or professional settings. A straighter smile often brings greater self-assurance; it enhances interactions, career prospects, and even mental well-being.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/first-impressions-are-everything-new-study-confirms-people-with-straight-teeth-are-perceived-as-more-successful-smarter-and-having-more-dates-148073735.html"><strong>Studies</strong></a> have shown that individuals with straighter teeth are perceived as more approachable and successful — benefits that many adults find compelling.</p>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Oral Health Benefits</strong></h3>

<p>Misaligned teeth aren’t just a cosmetic concern — they can also impact oral health. Crowded teeth can make it harder to clean between them, and it leads to plaque buildup, cavities, and gum disease. Additionally, improper alignment can cause uneven wear on teeth and even jaw strain. Braces help realign the teeth, reduce these risks, and support long-term oral health.</p>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Modern, Discreet Options</strong></h3>

<p>Today’s orthodontic solutions are designed with adults in mind. Nearly invisible clear aligners like Invisalign and ceramic braces blend with the teeth. Options like these cater to those who want effective treatment without drawing attention. Many adults are drawn to the flexibility of removable aligners, because it lets them maintain their lifestyle while improving their smile.</p>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Affordability and Accessibility</strong></h3>

<p>Orthodontic treatments are now more affordable. Patients have access to payment plans and other financing options that make it easier for adults to commit to braces.</p>

<p>There’s also an increased awareness of the importance of oral health, and it has prompted more adults to prioritise dental care. Many find adult orthodontic treatment a worthwhile investment in their well-being.</p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Addressing Concerns About Getting Braces as an Adult</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/pexels-tima-miroshnichenko-5355691.jpg"><img decoding="async" width="640" height="427" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/pexels-tima-miroshnichenko-5355691.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3089" style="object-fit:cover;width:560px;height:373px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/pexels-tima-miroshnichenko-5355691.jpg 640w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/pexels-tima-miroshnichenko-5355691-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:15px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Many adults hesitate, wondering, “<strong>Can I put braces at the age of 25</strong>?”&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Can you get braces at any age</strong>?</p>

<p>The answer is a resounding yes! Modern orthodontics caters to adults of all ages, and the results speak for themselves.</p>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Can adults really benefit from braces?</strong></h3>

<p>Absolutely! Adults can achieve straighter teeth and healthier smiles with braces, just like children and teens. Adult orthodontic treatment can correct misalignment, close gaps, and address bite issues. It improves not only aesthetics but also oral function.</p>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How long do adults need to wear braces?</strong></h3>

<p>The duration of treatment depends on the complexity of the case. On average, adults wear braces for 12 to 24 months. Mild misalignments may require less time, while more complex cases could take longer. Your orthodontist will provide a tailored timeline during your consultation.</p>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Are adult braces noticeable?</strong></h3>

<p><a href="https://orthoworx.com/adult-orthodontics/"><strong>Modern adult orthodontics</strong></a> offers discreet options that are barely noticeable. Clear aligners, like Invisalign, and ceramic braces that match your tooth colour are popular choices for adults who prefer a subtle look. Even traditional metal braces are smaller and less conspicuous than they used to be.</p>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What are the different types of braces for adults?</strong></h3>

<p>Adults can choose from many types of <a href="https://orthoworx.com/blog/adult-braces/"><strong>adult braces</strong></a>. There are clear aligners, ceramic braces, lingual braces, and metal braces.</p>

<div style="height:9px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How do adult braces improve oral health?</strong></h3>

<p>Braces correct misalignments that can lead to oral health issues like tooth decay, gum disease, and jaw pain. Properly aligned teeth are easier to clean, and it reduces the risk of plaque buildup and cavities. By improving your bite, braces also prevent uneven wear and enhance chewing efficiency, contributing to long-term dental health.</p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Conclusion</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/pexels-shiny-diamond-3762453.jpg"><img decoding="async" width="640" height="427" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/pexels-shiny-diamond-3762453.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3091" style="object-fit:cover;width:560px;height:373px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/pexels-shiny-diamond-3762453.jpg 640w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/pexels-shiny-diamond-3762453-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:15px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>The idea of &#8216;perfect teeth&#8217; often stems from idealised portrayals in the media, leading many to believe this look is essential for confidence and social acceptance. However, it&#8217;s important to understand that everyone&#8217;s dental structure is unique, and perfection is subjective.</p>

<p>Orthoworx, a premier orthodontic clinic in Sydney, helps people achieve their best smile. This blog will clarify the myths about perfect teeth, explore realistic ways to get straight teeth, and explain the role of dental health in this journey.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>The Myth of Perfect Teeth</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-stockphotoartist-1236678.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="682" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-stockphotoartist-1236678-1024x682.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2859" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-stockphotoartist-1236678-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-stockphotoartist-1236678-300x200.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-stockphotoartist-1236678-768x512.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-stockphotoartist-1236678.jpg 1280w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>For many, perfect teeth mean straight, white teeth that align perfectly with the gums. This idealised image is often influenced by celebrities and social media, leading many people to think, &#8220;I want straight teeth.&#8221;</p>

<p>Teeth vary in shape, size, and alignment from person to person, mainly due to genetics. Cultural factors also shape perceptions of dental perfection, with different cultures valuing different traits. For example, some cultures might value traits that don&#8217;t align with the Western ideal of straight, white teeth.</p>

<p>An &#8216;ideal&#8217; smile is subjective, shaped by aesthetics and health considerations. Orthodontic research shows that well-aligned teeth can enhance confidence and oral health. Achieving this means understanding each person&#8217;s unique dental needs and finding realistic solutions.</p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Common Desires: Why Do We Want Straight Teeth?</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-olly-774866.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="682" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-olly-774866-1024x682.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2861" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-olly-774866-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-olly-774866-300x200.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-olly-774866-768x512.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-olly-774866.jpg 1280w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Straight teeth can boost confidence and self-esteem, as many people believe a straighter smile improves their appearance, influencing how they perceive themselves and interact with others. If you&#8217;re wondering how to get perfect teeth, it&#8217;s essential to recognise that it involves more than aesthetics.</p>

<p>Society often associates straight teeth with professionalism and hygiene, which can positively impact first impressions in personal and professional settings.</p>

<p>Moreover, properly aligned teeth make oral hygiene easier, reducing the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. They also distribute bite forces more evenly, which helps prevent wear and tear.</p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Orthodontic Interventions</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-cedric-fauntleroy-4269681.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-cedric-fauntleroy-4269681-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2863" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-cedric-fauntleroy-4269681-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-cedric-fauntleroy-4269681-300x200.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-cedric-fauntleroy-4269681-768x512.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-cedric-fauntleroy-4269681.jpg 1279w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>&#x2714; Traditional Braces</strong></h3>

<p><a href="https://orthoworx.com/traditional-braces/"><strong>Traditional braces</strong></a> have been a tried-and-true method for straightening teeth for decades. They consist of metal brackets bonded to the teeth, connected by wires and bands. Benefits include precision in correcting severe misalignments, while limitations involve discomfort, aesthetic concerns, and difficulty maintaining oral hygiene. They’re suitable for individuals with significant <a href="https://orthoworx.com/adult-orthodontics/"><strong>orthodontic</strong></a> issues requiring comprehensive correction.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>&#x2714;Aligners</strong></h3>

<p>Aligners are clear, removable trays that gradually shift teeth into place. They offer a more discreet appearance than <a href="https://orthoworx.com/braces/"><strong>braces</strong></a> and can be removed for eating and cleaning. However, they require strict adherence to wearing them for 20-22 hours daily to ensure that treatment progresses as planned. Aligners are ideal for those seeking a less noticeable treatment for mild to moderate misaligned teeth.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>&#x2714; Modern Orthodontic Technologies at Orthoworx</strong></h3>

<p>Orthoworx provides advanced orthodontic options, including digital imaging for precise treatment planning and cutting-edge braces and aligner technology. The clinic focuses on personalised treatment plans, ensuring each patient receives the most effective solution.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Are Braces the Only Option for Straightening Teeth?</strong></h3>

<p>No, braces are not the only option. Aligners, <a href="https://orthoworx.com/lingual-braces/"><strong>lingual braces</strong></a> (placed behind the teeth), and other modern interventions like <a href="https://orthoworx.com/invisalign-sydney/"><strong>Invisalign</strong></a> can also effectively straighten teeth. The best treatment depends on the specific alignment issues and patient preferences.</p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong><strong><strong>Natural Alternatives: Fact vs. Fiction</strong></strong></strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-olly-3776857.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-olly-3776857-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2865" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-olly-3776857-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-olly-3776857-300x200.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-olly-3776857-768x512.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-olly-3776857.jpg 1279w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>There&#8217;s some interest in natural methods like exercises or dietary changes to straighten teeth. Common suggestions include tongue pushing and chewing gum to promote alignment. However, these methods have limited scientific support:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Exercises: </strong>May assist with minor alignment adjustments but need more robust evidence for significant changes.<br></li>

<li><strong>Dietary Changes: </strong>Can improve overall dental health but are ineffective for correcting misalignments.</li>
</ul>

<p>Compared to professional orthodontic treatments, natural methods offer different precision and effectiveness. Exercises and diet improvements can support, but not replace, traditional orthodontic treatments like braces or aligners.</p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong><strong><strong>Orthodontic Treatment: Duration, Decision, and Considerations</strong></strong></strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-tima-miroshnichenko-5355841.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="682" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-tima-miroshnichenko-5355841-1024x682.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2867" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-tima-miroshnichenko-5355841-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-tima-miroshnichenko-5355841-300x200.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-tima-miroshnichenko-5355841-768x512.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-tima-miroshnichenko-5355841.jpg 1280w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Orthodontic treatments can last from 6 months to 3 years, depending on the severity of the misalignment and the treatment approach. Here’s what to consider when choosing an orthodontist:</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Qualifications and Experience:</strong> Look for certifications and a solid track record in orthodontic and dental care.</li>

<li><strong>Patient Reviews:</strong> Patient feedback can provide insights into their experiences and the results achieved.</li>

<li><strong>Personalised Care:</strong> It’s essential to find an orthodontist who offers tailored treatment plans and uses the latest technology.</li>

<li><strong>Comfort and Communication: </strong>Choose an orthodontist who makes you feel comfortable and who clearly explains all treatment options.</li>
</ol>

<p>Choosing the right orthodontist and understanding the commitment required for treatment are crucial to achieving the best results.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How Can I Get Straight Teeth?</strong></h3>

<p>There are several ways to achieve straight teeth. Orthodontic treatments like braces and aligners are the most effective methods. Booking a consultation with an orthodontist is crucial to determine the best treatment.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How to Get Perfect Teeth? </strong></h3>

<p>Achieving perfect teeth involves more than just alignment. It also requires good oral hygiene, regular dental check-ups, and sometimes additional cosmetic procedures like whitening. An orthodontist can create a comprehensive plan tailored to your specific dental needs.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Can Your Teeth Get Straight Naturally?</strong></h3>

<p>Teeth cannot be significantly straightened naturally. While exercises or dietary changes can support dental health, they lack the precision to correct misalignment. Professional treatments like braces or aligners are necessary for noticeable changes.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What Are the Pros and Cons of Aligners Versus Braces?</strong></h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Aligners: </strong>Pros include a discreet appearance, comfortable to wear and removability for eating and cleaning teeth. However, they require discipline to wear for the time necessary to ensure treatment progresses as planned.<br></li>

<li><strong>Braces: </strong>Pros include precise control over teeth movement, which is effective for severe cases. Cons include visible hardware and difficulties in maintaining oral hygiene.</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How Long Does Orthodontic Treatment Usually Take?</strong></h3>

<p>The duration of orthodontic treatment typically ranges from 6 months to 3 years. The time varies based on the severity of the misalignment and the type of treatment used.</p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Conclusion</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-danxavier-1212984.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-danxavier-1212984-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2871" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-danxavier-1212984-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-danxavier-1212984-300x200.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-danxavier-1212984-768x512.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/pexels-danxavier-1212984.jpg 1279w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>If you&#8217;re wondering how to get perfect teeth, consider orthodontic interventions like braces and aligners, which offer reliable methods for improving dental alignment.</p>

<p>For those asking, &#8220;How do I get my teeth straight?&#8221; it is essential to remember that professional guidance is vital. Aligners or braces are effective solutions for straightening teeth, and addressing misalignment isn&#8217;t just about aesthetics but also about maintaining long-term oral health.</p>

<p><a href="https://orthoworx.com/braces/"><strong>Braces</strong></a> are essential to many people&#8217;s journeys to a beautiful, straight smile. However, maintaining that straight smile can be challenging once the braces come off. </p>

<p>At Orthoworx, we understand the importance of preventing teeth from shifting after braces to ensure long-term results. In this guide, we&#8217;ll explain why teeth may shift, provide tips on avoiding and fixing shifted teeth, and discuss the critical role of retainers in maintaining your orthodontic results.</p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Why Teeth May Shift After Braces</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/pexels-mattycphoto-1582641.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/pexels-mattycphoto-1582641-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2847" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/pexels-mattycphoto-1582641-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/pexels-mattycphoto-1582641-300x200.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/pexels-mattycphoto-1582641-768x512.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/pexels-mattycphoto-1582641.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Even after completing <a href="https://orthoworx.com/adult-orthodontics/"><strong>orthodontic treatment</strong></a>, several factors can cause teeth to shift. Understanding these reasons can help you take steps to prevent and address teeth movement.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Natural Dental Changes</strong></h3>

<p>Over time, your teeth can naturally shift due to jaw and facial structure changes. This is a normal part of ageing but can affect the alignment of your teeth. As we age, our teeth can drift slightly due to the continuous, slow bone changes that support them. This natural progression is often exacerbated by the loss of bone density, which can lead to minor teeth shifting after braces.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Inadequate Retainer Use</strong></h3>

<p>One of the most common reasons for teeth shifting after braces is not wearing retainers as prescribed. <a href="https://orthoworx.com/teeth-retainers-sydney/"><strong>Retainers</strong></a> are essential for maintaining the position of your teeth. When retainers are not worn consistently, the teeth can move back to their original positions. This movement can be relatively rapid in the first few months after the <a href="https://orthoworx.com/traditional-braces/"><strong>braces</strong></a> are removed but can continue slowly for years. This is why it is critical to wear your retainer as directed by your orthodontist to prevent teeth from moving after braces.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Other Factors</strong></h3>

<p>Various factors can contribute to teeth moving after braces:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Grinding Your Teeth (Bruxism): </strong>Grinding or clenching your teeth can put extra pressure on them and cause them to move. This is a common issue that can be addressed with a night guard or stress-reduction techniques.</li>

<li><strong>Poor Oral Hygiene: </strong>Inadequate oral hygiene can lead to gum disease and tooth decay, affecting the stability of your teeth and causing them to shift. Maintaining good oral hygiene is essential for keeping your teeth in place.</li>

<li><strong>Not Attending Regular Dental Check-Ups: </strong>Regular dental check-ups are vital for monitoring the health and alignment of your teeth. Your dentist can catch early signs of shifting and take corrective action before it becomes a significant issue.</li>

<li><strong>Changes in Jaw Structure:</strong> As mentioned, natural changes in your jaw structure can influence teeth shifting. This can include bone loss due to ageing or medical conditions that affect bone density.</li>

<li><strong>Other Dental Work: </strong>Sometimes, other dental procedures, such as extractions or implants, can influence the position of your teeth. Discussing your orthodontic history with your dentist before undergoing new dental treatments is essential.</li>
</ul>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Preventing Teeth Shifting</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/hamed-darzi-SgdwFEKcyPI-unsplash.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/hamed-darzi-SgdwFEKcyPI-unsplash-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2845" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/hamed-darzi-SgdwFEKcyPI-unsplash-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/hamed-darzi-SgdwFEKcyPI-unsplash-300x200.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/hamed-darzi-SgdwFEKcyPI-unsplash-768x512.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/hamed-darzi-SgdwFEKcyPI-unsplash-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/hamed-darzi-SgdwFEKcyPI-unsplash.jpg 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Importance of Wearing Retainers</strong></h3>

<p>Wearing retainers is the most effective way to prevent teeth from shifting after braces. Here&#8217;s why:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Retainers Maintain Alignment: </strong>Retainers help keep your teeth in their new positions by providing continuous support. Without this support, teeth shifting after braces is more likely to occur, as your teeth tend to return to their original positions.</li>

<li><strong>Types of Retainers: </strong>There are different retainers, including removable and fixed. Your orthodontist will recommend the best type for your needs:
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Removable Retainers:</strong> These can be taken out for cleaning and are typically worn at night. They are convenient but require discipline to wear consistently.</li>

<li><strong>Fixed Retainers:</strong> These are bonded to the back of your teeth and provide constant support. They are discreet and do not require daily handling, making them a good option for preventing teeth from moving after braces.</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Regular Dental Check-Ups</strong></h3>

<p>Regular dental check-ups are vital for maintaining your orthodontic results. During these visits, your dentist can monitor your teeth&#8217;s alignment and make necessary adjustments to your retainers. These check-ups allow your dentist to detect early signs of teeth shifting after braces and take corrective actions before the issue becomes more significant. Regular visits also ensure that your retainers are functioning correctly and comfortably.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Good Oral Hygiene Practices</strong></h3>

<p>Good oral hygiene is essential for preventing teeth shifting after braces. Brushing and flossing regularly can help keep your gums and teeth healthy, reducing the risk of movement. Poor oral hygiene can lead to gum disease and tooth decay, both of which can weaken the support structures of your teeth and lead to teeth moving after braces. Here are some tips to maintain good oral hygiene:</p>

<ol class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Brush Twice a Day: </strong>Use fluoride toothpaste and brush for at least two minutes each time.</li>

<li><strong>Floss Daily:</strong> Flossing removes plaque and food particles from between your teeth and under the gumline.</li>

<li><strong>Use Mouthwash:</strong> An antibacterial mouthwash can help reduce plaque and prevent gum disease.</li>
</ol>

<p>Following these practices and wearing your retainers as instructed can significantly reduce the risk of teeth shifting after braces and maintain your beautiful smile.</p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong><strong>Fixing Shifted Teeth</strong></strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/pexels-gustavo-fring-5622263.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/pexels-gustavo-fring-5622263-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2843" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/pexels-gustavo-fring-5622263-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/pexels-gustavo-fring-5622263-300x200.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/pexels-gustavo-fring-5622263-768x512.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/pexels-gustavo-fring-5622263.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>If your teeth have shifted after braces, there are several solutions available. Wearing your retainer more frequently might help move your teeth back into place for minor shifts. However, you might need additional orthodontic treatment for significant shifts, such as braces or clear aligners.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Professional treatments can be effective for fixing shifted teeth after braces. Your orthodontist may recommend options like braces, clear aligners, or other orthodontic appliances. At-home practices, such as wearing your retainer as directed and maintaining good oral hygiene, can also support these treatments.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Role of Retainers in Maintaining Results</strong></h3>

<p>Retainers play a critical role in preventing post braces teeth shifting. There are different types of retainers, each with its benefits. Removable retainers can be taken out for cleaning and are typically worn at night, providing flexibility and ease of use. On the other hand, fixed retainers are bonded to the back of your teeth and provide constant support to prevent teeth from moving after braces.</p>

<p>Taking proper care of your retainers is essential for maintaining their effectiveness. It is important to clean your retainers daily with a toothbrush and mild soap to ensure they remain hygienic and free from bacteria.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Additionally, following your orthodontist&#8217;s instructions on how often to wear your retainers is crucial to prevent teeth shifting after braces. By consistently wearing and caring for your retainers, you can maintain the alignment of your teeth and enjoy long-lasting results from your orthodontic treatment.</p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/william-warby-oZKmP9VdvB0-unsplash.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="660" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/william-warby-oZKmP9VdvB0-unsplash-1024x660.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2814" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/william-warby-oZKmP9VdvB0-unsplash-1024x660.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/william-warby-oZKmP9VdvB0-unsplash-300x193.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/william-warby-oZKmP9VdvB0-unsplash-768x495.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/william-warby-oZKmP9VdvB0-unsplash-1536x990.jpg 1536w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/william-warby-oZKmP9VdvB0-unsplash.jpg 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Morning Clean</strong></h3>

<p>Start brushing thoroughly around each brace and wire daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Use fluoride toothpaste and brush gently but effectively to remove plaque or food particles. Ensure that you reach the back of the mouth and the inner surfaces of the teeth.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>After Meals</strong></h3>

<p>Brushing after every meal minimises the risk of food sticking to your braces and causing decay. If brushing isn’t possible immediately, rinsing your mouth vigorously with water or a mouthwash can help dislodge food particles until you can brush.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Nightly Cleaning</strong></h3>

<p>End your day with a comprehensive clean. Use an interdental brush or floss threader for areas beneath the wires and around the brackets. This prevents plaque build-up and maintains the health of your gums and teeth overnight.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Post Braces Care: Retainers After Braces and Maintaining Your Teeth</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/aubrey-davis-merlWZIBVuk-unsplash.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/aubrey-davis-merlWZIBVuk-unsplash-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2816" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/aubrey-davis-merlWZIBVuk-unsplash-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/aubrey-davis-merlWZIBVuk-unsplash-300x200.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/aubrey-davis-merlWZIBVuk-unsplash-768x512.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/aubrey-davis-merlWZIBVuk-unsplash-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/aubrey-davis-merlWZIBVuk-unsplash.jpg 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>After your braces are removed, using a retainer is essential to maintain the new position of your teeth and prevent them from gradually shifting back. Regular and diligent wear of your post-brace retainer according to your orthodontist&#8217;s instructions will ensure the long-term success of your <a href="https://orthoworx.com/child-orthodontics/"><strong>orthodontic treatment</strong></a>. Maintaining rigorous oral hygiene is also vital; continue brushing and flossing regularly to keep your teeth after braces and gums healthy. For retainer care, ensure it is cleaned daily to remove bacteria and food particles, using mild cleaners designed specifically for orthodontic appliances. This careful attention to retainer maintenance and overall dental health post-treatment will help you enjoy your beautifully aligned smile for years.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What Type of Braces Material is Best to Clean?</strong></h2>

<p>When choosing braces, it&#8217;s essential to consider the materials available, each with its advantages and cleaning requirements. Here&#8217;s a detailed look at the common types of braces materials and how each fare in terms of ease of cleaning and maintenance:</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/kenny-eliason-6gKvN8qFGxA-unsplash.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/kenny-eliason-6gKvN8qFGxA-unsplash-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2818" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/kenny-eliason-6gKvN8qFGxA-unsplash-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/kenny-eliason-6gKvN8qFGxA-unsplash-300x200.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/kenny-eliason-6gKvN8qFGxA-unsplash-768x512.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/kenny-eliason-6gKvN8qFGxA-unsplash-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/kenny-eliason-6gKvN8qFGxA-unsplash.jpg 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>→ Metal Braces</strong></h3>

<p>Metal braces are known for their durability and effectiveness in treating many orthodontic issues. Their more straightforward structure makes them easier to clean than other types. Regular brushing and flossing without additional tools or steps make metal braces a practical choice for those concerned with straightforward dental care.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>→ Ceramic Braces</strong></h3>

<p>Ceramic braces offer a less noticeable alternative to metal braces, as they blend more naturally with the colour of your teeth. However, they require more meticulous cleaning to prevent staining. Ceramic braces demand careful attention to brushing and flossing around the brackets to maintain their aesthetic appeal throughout the treatment period.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>→ Lingual Braces</strong></h3>

<p>Lingual braces are attached to the back of the teeth, making them invisible from the front. While they are excellent for those conscious about the appearance of braces, their placement makes them challenging to clean. Using specialised dental tools and following precise cleaning techniques is essential to remove hidden food particles and plaque.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>→ Clear Aligners</strong></h3>

<p>Clear aligners like Invisalign are popular for their removability and discretion. They allow for easy cleaning of both the aligners and the teeth. Users can maintain their usual dental hygiene routine by removing the aligners before brushing and flossing. This convenience also facilitates an easier transition to using retainers after braces, which is essential for long-term post-bracing care.</p>

<p>Each brace material has its challenges and benefits in daily care and maintenance. Choosing the right one involves balancing aesthetics, comfort, and ease of cleaning to best suit your lifestyle and dental care needs.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong> What Do You Need for Braces Care?</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/goby-30LfeG_ZaQ-unsplash.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/goby-30LfeG_ZaQ-unsplash-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2820" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/goby-30LfeG_ZaQ-unsplash-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/goby-30LfeG_ZaQ-unsplash-300x200.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/goby-30LfeG_ZaQ-unsplash-768x512.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/goby-30LfeG_ZaQ-unsplash-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/goby-30LfeG_ZaQ-unsplash.jpg 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>&#x2714; Toothbrushes and Floss</strong></h3>

<p>Opt for orthodontic toothbrushes or a quality electric toothbrush specifically designed to clean around braces. Orthodontic or water flossers are also excellent for getting into the nooks and crannies where regular floss might not reach effectively.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>&#x2714; Specialised Cleaning Solutions</strong></h3>

<p>Consider using a fluoride mouthwash to help reduce plaque buildup and protect against decay. Specialised orthodontic cleaning solutions can be used with daily brushing and flossing to maintain appliance cleanliness.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What are the best cleaning techniques for braces?</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/superkitina-rCT928GIboM-unsplash.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/superkitina-rCT928GIboM-unsplash-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2822" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/superkitina-rCT928GIboM-unsplash-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/superkitina-rCT928GIboM-unsplash-300x200.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/superkitina-rCT928GIboM-unsplash-768x512.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/superkitina-rCT928GIboM-unsplash-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/superkitina-rCT928GIboM-unsplash.jpg 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Brushing Technique</strong></h3>

<p>When brushing, position the bristles at a 45-degree angle to the gums and move the brush in small circular motions. Cover all surfaces of the teeth and braces to ensure thorough cleaning. Spend about 30 seconds on each section of the mouth.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Flossing Technique</strong></h3>

<p>Using a floss threader, slide the floss under the primary wire of your braces before passing it between two teeth. Carefully move it up and down along the sides of both teeth and under the gums. Repeat this for each tooth.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Using Cleaning Solutions</strong></h3>

<p>For deeper cleans, dilute a non-abrasive, alcohol-free orthodontic cleaning solution per the manufacturer’s instructions and rinse or soak your braces if removable. This helps reduce bacteria and maintain the integrity of your braces.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Emergency Care for Braces: What Should I Do if a Wire or Bracket Breaks?</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/yingpis-kalayom-By1szZOVpHg-unsplash.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="719" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/yingpis-kalayom-By1szZOVpHg-unsplash-1024x719.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2824" style="width:550px" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/yingpis-kalayom-By1szZOVpHg-unsplash-1024x719.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/yingpis-kalayom-By1szZOVpHg-unsplash-300x211.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/yingpis-kalayom-By1szZOVpHg-unsplash-768x539.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/yingpis-kalayom-By1szZOVpHg-unsplash-1536x1078.jpg 1536w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/yingpis-kalayom-By1szZOVpHg-unsplash.jpg 1920w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Experiencing a broken wire or bracket can be an ordinary yet alarming orthodontic emergency. If this happens, contacting your orthodontist for advice immediately is essential. In the meantime, you can use orthodontic wax to cover sharp ends and prevent them from irritating your mouth. Avoid cutting the wire, as this could lead to swallowing or inhaling the metal piece. If the discomfort is severe, over-the-counter pain relievers can alleviate immediate pain until you receive professional care. Remember, seeing an orthodontist promptly is crucial to address the issue safely and effectively, ensuring your treatment stays on track.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Caring for your braces is crucial to ensuring a smooth and effective orthodontic treatment. Here are some commonly asked questions and expert answers to help you manage your braces maintenance efficiently.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What are the best products for braces care?</strong></h3>

<p>The best products for braces care include a soft-bristled toothbrush or an electric toothbrush with an orthodontic head, fluoride toothpaste, orthodontic floss or floss threaders, and an antibacterial mouthwash. For those with removable braces or retainers, consider using a cleansing solution specifically designed for orthodontic appliances to ensure thorough cleaning.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How often should I clean my braces?</strong></h3>

<p>You should clean your braces after every meal and snack to ensure no food particles or plaque remain lodged in or around the brackets and wires. This frequent cleaning helps prevent tooth decay and gum disease, which are common concerns during orthodontic treatment.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How do I manage discomfort from braces adjustments?</strong></h3>

<p>Discomfort is common after braces are adjusted. You can use over-the-counter pain relievers, eat soft foods, and use oral anesthetics to manage it. A cold compress outside the mouth can also help reduce soreness and inflammation.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What is involved in braces removal aftercare?</strong></h3>

<p>Braces removal aftercare involves wearing retainers as directed by your orthodontist to maintain the alignment of your newly straightened teeth. Good oral hygiene practices, including regular brushing and flossing, are essential. Regular dental check-ups will ensure your teeth remain healthy and aligned post-treatment.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What Can You Eat with Braces? Let&#8217;s Explore Braces Friendly Food!</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pexels-polina-kovaleva-7089987.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1280" height="1918" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pexels-polina-kovaleva-7089987.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2791" style="width:370px;height:auto" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pexels-polina-kovaleva-7089987.jpg 1280w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pexels-polina-kovaleva-7089987-200x300.jpg 200w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pexels-polina-kovaleva-7089987-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pexels-polina-kovaleva-7089987-768x1151.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pexels-polina-kovaleva-7089987-1025x1536.jpg 1025w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></a></figure></div>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Brace yourself because there&#8217;s a world of tasty treats waiting!&nbsp;</p>

<p>Opt for brace-friendly delights like pasta, mashed potatoes, and soft tacos to keep your mealtime hassle-free. Dive into the joy of biting into crunchy fruits and veggies—just slice them up to save your braces from any breakage or snapping (not fun for any party involved).&nbsp; Sticking to softer foods avoids hurting your teeth which are definitely feeling more sensitive, and crunchy foods can bend the wires, loosen bands, and get rid of brackets completely &#8211; here&#8217;s to a painless journey.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Remember, with braces, you&#8217;re not saying goodbye to good eats, just welcoming a new, tooth-friendly way to savour the flavours.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Clear aligners might be your ideal choice if you&#8217;re considering a discreet and convenient way to straighten your teeth. In this comprehensive guide, we&#8217;ll explore everything you need to know about clear aligners, from how they work to their benefits, including insights into popular options like Invisalign and clear braces.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Clear Aligners: Unveiling the Transformation</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/person-holding-clear-aligner.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="341" height="512" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/person-holding-clear-aligner.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2774" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/person-holding-clear-aligner.jpg 341w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/person-holding-clear-aligner-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 341px) 100vw, 341px" /></a></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><br><strong>What Are Clear Aligners?</strong></h3>

<p>Clear aligners are a modern and discreet orthodontic treatment designed to shift teeth into their desired positions gradually. Crafted from transparent, medical-grade plastic, these aligners offer a nearly invisible alternative to traditional braces. They are custom-made to fit snugly over your teeth, gently exerting pressure to guide them into alignment over time.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>How Do Clear Aligners Work</strong><strong>?</strong></h3>

<p>The process begins with a consultation with our experienced orthodontists at<a href="https://orthoworx.com/othodontist-zetland/"> <strong>Orthoworx</strong></a>, where digital impressions and images are taken to create a personalised treatment plan. The aligners are then crafted to correspond to the different stages of your orthodontic journey. You&#8217;ll wear each set of aligners for a period, typically two weeks, before progressing to the next set. Regular check-ups with our professionals ensure your treatment is progressing as planned.</p>

<div style="height:40px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Benefits of Clear Aligners: More Than Just a Straight Smile</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/cheerful-ethnic-woman-in-hallway-of-modern-building.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="512" height="341" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/cheerful-ethnic-woman-in-hallway-of-modern-building.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2772" style="width:530px;height:auto" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/cheerful-ethnic-woman-in-hallway-of-modern-building.jpg 512w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/cheerful-ethnic-woman-in-hallway-of-modern-building-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px" /></a></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><br><strong>Discreet Aesthetics</strong></h3>

<p>One of the primary advantages of clear aligners, such as<a href="https://orthoworx.com/invisalign-sydney/"> <strong>Invisalign</strong></a>, is their discreet appearance. Unlike traditional braces, clear aligners are virtually invisible, allowing you to straighten your teeth without drawing attention to your orthodontic treatment.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Removability for Convenience</strong></h3>

<p>They’re removable, offering unparalleled convenience in your daily life. You can easily take them out for eating, brushing, and special occasions. This flexibility not only enhances your comfort but also simplifies your oral hygiene routine, reducing the risk of issues like cavities and gum disease.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Predictable and Efficient</strong></h3>

<p>Clear aligner technology, backed by precise digital planning, enables a more predictable and efficient treatment process. Patients often experience shorter treatment times than traditional braces, making clear aligners an appealing option for those seeking efficient results.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Invisalign: A Pioneer in Clear Aligner Technology</strong></h3>

<p>Invisalign, a leading clear aligner brand, has revolutionised orthodontic treatment with innovative technology. Using advanced 3D imaging, Invisalign aligners are tailored to your unique dental anatomy. </p>

<div style="height:40px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Clear Braces: An Alternative Approach</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/invisalign-washington-heights-esthetix-dentist-nyc-s-dental-implant-cosmetic-specialist.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="512" height="407" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/invisalign-washington-heights-esthetix-dentist-nyc-s-dental-implant-cosmetic-specialist.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2770" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/invisalign-washington-heights-esthetix-dentist-nyc-s-dental-implant-cosmetic-specialist.jpg 512w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/invisalign-washington-heights-esthetix-dentist-nyc-s-dental-implant-cosmetic-specialist-300x238.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px" /></a></figure></div>

<p><br>Clear braces, while similar in appearance to traditional metal braces, utilise translucent brackets and wires for a more discreet look. They offer the effectiveness of traditional braces with a cosmetic advantage, making them an appealing choice for those who require a slightly more robust treatment.</p>

<div style="height:40px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Your Journey to a Perfect Smile Starts Here</strong></h2>

<p>Maintaining optimal oral hygiene is key, especially during orthodontic treatments. Choosing the right toothbrush is fundamental to achieving a healthy and radiant smile. In this comprehensive guide, we&#8217;ll explore the age-old electric vs. manual toothbrush debate, providing valuable insights to help you make an informed decision tailored to your unique dental needs.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Understanding the Options: Manual Toothbrush vs Electric Toothbrush</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/crop-female-dentist-showing-right-way-of-teeth-cleaning.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="341" height="512" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/crop-female-dentist-showing-right-way-of-teeth-cleaning.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2766" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/crop-female-dentist-showing-right-way-of-teeth-cleaning.jpg 341w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/crop-female-dentist-showing-right-way-of-teeth-cleaning-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 341px) 100vw, 341px" /></a></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><br><strong>Electric Toothbrushes</strong></h3>

<p>Electric toothbrushes have gained popularity for their efficiency in removing plaque and promoting gum health. With oscillating or sonic movements, these brushes can reach areas that might be challenging to clean with a manual toothbrush.&nbsp;</p>

<p>They often come equipped with timers to ensure you brush for two minutes, enhancing your overall dental routine. Our <strong><a href="https://orthoworx.com/braces/">braces</a> </strong>patients particularly benefit from electric toothbrushes due to their ability to navigate around brackets and wires with ease.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Manual Toothbrushes</strong></h3>

<p>On the other hand, manual toothbrushes remain a trusted and effective choice for many. The secret lies in using proper brushing techniques and dedicating ample time to your oral care routine.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Manual toothbrushes offer a level of control that some individuals prefer, and they come in various bristle types, catering to different dental sensitivities. For those on<a href="https://orthoworx.com/traditional-braces/"> <strong>traditional braces</strong></a> or<a href="https://orthoworx.com/lingual-braces/"> </a><strong><a href="https://orthoworx.com/lingual-braces/">lingual braces</a> </strong>treatments, a manual toothbrush can be an excellent companion in maintaining thorough dental hygiene.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><br><strong>Best Toothbrush for Braces</strong></h3>

<p>Navigating dental care with braces can be a difficult feat, so let us help you select the right toothbrush;</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Manual toothbrushes are more cost-effective and can be more controlled based on the individual</li>

<li>Electric toothbrushes are faster, require less effort, and oscillating motion cleans more effectively</li>

<li>A <a href="https://www.cochrane.org/CD002281/ORAL_poweredelectric-toothbrushes-compared-to-manual-toothbrushes-for-maintaining-oral-health"><strong>Cochrane</strong></a> study highlighted that an electric toothbrush is more effective for people with braces (21% reduction in plague)</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Electric vs Normal Toothbrush</strong><strong>: Unravelling the Benefits</strong></h3>

<p>The debate over electric vs. normal toothbrushes often centres on effectiveness and convenience.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Numerous studies prove that electric toothbrushes tend to remove more plaque and reduce gingivitis more effectively than their manual counterparts. This makes them an excellent choice for individuals seeking a more advanced and efficient dental care solution.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Why Are Electric Toothbrushes Better?</strong></h3>

<p>These toothbrushes are often considered superior due to their ability to provide consistent, controlled movements, ensuring a thorough clean each time. Built-in timers and pressure sensors further enhance your brushing technique. Enquire about our recommendation of orthodontist-approved electric toothbrushes and elevate your dental care routine.</p>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>The journey towards straighter teeth and a confident smile begins with the decision to opt for <a href="https://orthoworx.com/braces/"><strong>braces</strong></a>. However, understanding the teeth braces cost is an integral part of this process. In this blog, we will explore the different braces options, presenting a complete breakdown of the average mouth braces cost and the advantages and disadvantages of each to help you find the best alternative.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><b><br></b><strong>What Is the Average Cost Of Braces in Australia?</strong><b> </b></h2>

<p>If you’re starting a braces treatment, it is important to understand that there will be a lot of costs associated with the treatment. In Australia, the price for a traditional brace treatment provided by a specialist orthodontist typically ranges from $9,000 to $14,000. Choosing a specialist orthodontist ensures that you receive the highest standard of care throughout your treatment.</p>

<p>However, it is essential to consider that each patient case will be different, and sometimes the plan will vary depending on the severity of the orthodontic needs, as the adult braces cost can differ from a child orthodontic plan. </p>

<p>Nowadays, there are many alternatives to braces, so let’s explore the different options and their average cost.&nbsp;</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<div class="wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex">

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong><a href="https://orthoworx.com/traditional-braces/">Traditional Braces </a></strong></h3>

<p>Traditional or metal braces are the most common form of braces; they consist of metal brackets attached to the teeth and connected by wires. They use a system of constant pressure to move teeth gradually into proper alignment.&nbsp;</p>

<p>These braces are a popular choice because they are effective for a wide range of orthodontic issues and all types of misalignments, and they are typically the most affordable option.</p>
</div>

<div class="wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/PHOTOS.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/PHOTOS-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2752" srcset="https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/PHOTOS-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/PHOTOS-300x225.jpg 300w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/PHOTOS-768x576.jpg 768w, https://orthoworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/PHOTOS.jpg 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure>

<p>Ceramic braces function similarly to traditional braces but use tooth-coloured or clear brackets and less noticeable wires. They are a popular choice for those seeking a more discreet treatment option while still benefiting from the effectiveness of braces.</p>

<p>Lingual braces are placed on the backside (lingual side) of the teeth, making them virtually invisible from the front. They work similarly to traditional braces but are hidden, making them an aesthetic choice for individuals concerned about the appearance of braces.</p>

<p>These braces are effective for most orthodontic cases, but it is still important to consult an orthodontist to determine the best alternative.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Invisalign&#x2122; is an innovative form of braces, and more people are choosing it as a bracing alternative. Made from a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually shift teeth into place. These aligners are custom-made for each patient and are nearly invisible when worn.&nbsp;</p>

<p>They offer convenience as they are removable for eating, brushing, and flossing but require strict adherence to wearing them for the recommended duration each day for effective results.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Invisalign&#x2122; is suitable for mild to moderate orthodontic issues but may not be suitable for complex cases.&nbsp;</p>

<div style="height:40px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What about Retainers?&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Once your orthodontic treatment is complete, patients need to use a combination of fixed and removable retainers nto maintain the braces&#8217; results in the long term.</p>

<p><a href="https://orthoworx.com/teeth-retainers-sydney/"><strong>Teeth retainers</strong></a> in Sydney are generally affordable for most patients. Depending on the type of retainer and your treatment plan, you can expect to pay anywhere <em>between $400-$800</em>.</p>

<div style="height:40px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Do Insurance Cover Orthodontic Treatment?&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Australian private health insurance hospital policies do not cover orthodontic treatment and teeth braces. If you&#8217;re seeking coverage for braces, whether for yourself or your children, it&#8217;s important to add orthodontics to your private health insurance extras cover.</p>

<p>Rebates for orthodontic treatment vary based on whether the care is provided by a specialist orthodontist or a general dentist and typically come with a 12-month waiting period. Ensure your extras cover includes orthodontics to benefit from these rebates fully.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>What Is The Right Treatment For You?</strong></h3>

<p>Choosing the most suitable treatment for your dental needs involves considering various factors. Your orthodontic requirements, including the nature and severity of misalignments, and your preferences, such as visibility, maintenance, lifestyle considerations, and the orthodontic treatment price. </p>

<p>Seeking advice from an orthodontist is the key, as they can assess your case. Their expertise helps identify the most appropriate treatment options available, allowing you to make an informed decision aligned with your specific needs and preferences.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Orthodontic treatments such as braces are often associated with teenagers. However, more and more people are </span>getting braces as an adult. <span style="font-weight: 400;">Orthodontic treatments can improve oral health and enhance their smiles. If you are an adult considering orthodontic treatment, this blog post is for you. We will explore </span><a href="https://orthoworx.com/adult-orthodontics/"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>adult orthodontics</strong></span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> treatments, common questions about braces and finding the right </span>adult orthodontist<span style="font-weight: 400;">.&nbsp;</span></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><b><br>Why Do Adults Need Orthodontics?&nbsp;</b></h3>

<p>Braces in adulthood <span style="font-weight: 400;">can provide a series of benefits, mainly focused on cosmetic enhancements, and orthodontic treatment can also contribute to correcting and improving oral issues. If you’re experiencing some of the next dental problems, braces may be a recommended alternative:&nbsp;</span></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><br><strong>Is There Any Difference With Child Orthodontics?&nbsp;</strong></h3>

<p>While child orthodontics and adult orthodontics share common objectives, the main differences lie in the adaptability of the treatment. Child orthodontics leverages young patients&#8217; ongoing dental development and growth, guiding it more effectively.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In contrast, adult orthodontic cases often involve fully developed bone structures, making the treatment process more intricate. However, it&#8217;s essential to mention that orthodontic interventions can be remarkably effective in adults, even if they are over in their teenage years.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The advancements in orthodontic techniques allow orthodontists to address a wide range of adult orthodontic concerns, from cosmetic enhancements to the improvement of oral health, meaning that age nowadays is not a&nbsp; barrier to achieving a healthier and more beautiful smile.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><a href="https://orthoworx.com/ceramic-braces/"><strong><u>Ceramic Braces</u></strong></a></h4>

<p>Ceramic braces are very similar to metal braces but with one key difference: the brackets are made from tooth-coloured or clear materials; this makes them less noticeable and more aesthetically pleasing. Lingual braces can effectively treat a wide range of orthodontic issues, but they may take some time to get used to and can be more challenging to clean.</p>

<p>Invisalign® for adults is a popular option instead of braces. It uses clear aligners to move teeth into the right place slowly.&nbsp; These clear braces for adults are virtually invisible and offer the flexibility of removing the aligners for eating and oral hygiene. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Thanks to the recent advancements in </span><a href="https://orthoworx.com/child-orthodontics/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">children’s orthodontics</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and dental care, it has made parents more aware about the need to pay closer attention to our children’s teeth.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Occasional dental problems in young children and teens are common and are not too different from an adult’s dental problems, however, treatment can vary.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Because children have softer, more delicate teeth, the associated treatments need to be different as well. If you continue to ignore your child&#8217;s dental problems, they will only get worse over time and eventually lead to a series of serious health problems. When you understand why dental problems occur and how to prevent them, your child can easily avoid them.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In this blog article, we look at the most </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">common dental problems </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">in children in greater depth.</span></p>
<h3>Tooth Decay In Children</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Tooth decay is a common dental problem for children and adults. In fact, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare has recorded that more than one-third (34%) of children have experienced tooth decay in their baby teeth as early as 5 to 6 whereas, more than a quarter of children ages 5 to 10 (27%) have untreated decay in the primary teeth.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The mouth is home to many different types of bacteria. These bacteria can form a sticky film on the teeth called plaque which accumulates in the mouth over time. This sort of bacteria thrives on starchy foods. Combined with sugar and the bacteria, it produces acid as a by-product of sugar breakdown. This acid eventually eats away at the tooth enamel, which is the protective cover of the tooth. The sticky film created by frequent acid exposure breaks down tooth enamel, causing cavities. However, tooth decay and the accumulation of bacteria in the mouth are easily preventable through regular teeth brushing and flossing. </span></p>
<h3>Gum Disease In Children</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gum disease is another common dental disease among children and is the result of improper oral healthcare. If your child or teen fails to follow a strict dental care regimen, then they are sure to face problems with their gums.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gum disease can be aggressive and for this reason, it is imperative to mitigate the possibility of it occurring when there is still time. Gum disease causes severe pain and discomfort around the gum area and lead to serious infection. If left untreated can lead to gum reduction. If you want to spare your children from the pain associated with gum disease, you need to </span><a href="https://orthoworx.com/appointment/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">schedule regular appointments for your children</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> with their dentist and ensure they follow good oral hygiene. Proper brushing and flossing are key to preventing gum disease from occurring.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Not all children are able to floss their teeth regularly. This can be due to overcrowding and crooked teeth as they can be hard to brush and floss. If this is the case, the practice can lead to serious gum diseases. You may need to consider the possibility of investing in </span><a href="https://orthoworx.com/traditional-braces/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">children&#8217;s metal</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> or clear aligners</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">&nbsp;to correct your child or teen&#8217;s crooked teeth to encourage better hygiene habits and prevent long-term dental problems.</span></p>
<h3>Gingivitis In Children</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gingivitis refers to inflamed gums and is an identifying sign of the early stages of gum disease. It is a common dental problem among children and adults and is caused by tartar and plaque gathering on the base of distressed gums. Your child may experience various issues, ranging from gum swelling to extreme pain when suffering from gingivitis. Bleeding might occur while brushing and flossing. To prevent Gingivitis from turning into something more serious, educate your child about the dental disease and encourage proper oral hygiene methods.&nbsp;</span></p>
<h3>Sensitive Teeth In Children</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Tooth sensitivity is another dental problem that can happen to anyone of all ages. When cold or hot foods and fluids can cause discomfort to the child, it&#8217;s a sign of sensitive teeth and may indicate a more serious dental issue such as tooth decay or cavities.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Children with sensitive teeth may exhibit a more delicate layer of teeth enamel than adults, as it is worn away by bacteria more easily. When the enamel is worn away, microscopic fissures appear in the teeth, revealing the gums and nerve endings. These nerve endings are activated when you eat hot or cold meals leading to pain.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This problem is preventable with good dental hygiene habits. Alternatively, professionals can apply sealants to your children&#8217;s teeth to strengthen the enamel and fill cracks.</span></p>
<h3>Teeth Grinding In Children</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Clinically known as Bruxism, grinding teeth is a common condition in children, teens and adults. Like thumb sucking, grinding could be a bad habit or a result of anxiety or stress. Grinding can lead to poor dental health management and causes teeth to become more fragile. Such teeth can break easily. More often than not, bruxism ceases as the child grows older. If it continues though, it may result in grinding down permanent teeth and wearing out enamel which causes sensitive teeth and pain. A night guard can assist with preventing the child from grinding their teeth while they sleep.</span></p>
